I suppose you can thank our press for releasing the pictures of the prisoner "abuses"
I don't remember the 4 american bodies hanging from a bridge getting this kind of press.
I emailed Steve Chabot and told him that if he votes to release anymore photos, the blood from anyone killed because of them will be on his hands.
I urge you all to write similar letters.
Goto congress.org type in your zip code and your senators et al come up.
I throughly despise our media and their zeal to get out anything shocking without bothering to consider how it might affect our troops, our morale, etc.
I wonder who the real enemy is...

I am now in favor of using nukes. Get our men out of there and blow that MF'in country off the map.
we can do it with conventional weapons. Problem is we keep going at it with one hand tied behind our backs worried about collateral damage to civilians, worried about Arab and world opinion and reaction. Do it right or don't do it at all and we are not doing this right.
From a military site I frequent....
After spending days of wading through one ?POW Atrocity? thread after another, enough is enough. Okay, people, let?s lay things out:
- I?m still waiting to see the report stating that our people tortured, starved to death, or murdered Iraqi prisoners. Until then, the jury is out. However, based on the photographic evidence shown so far, OUR people humiliated and degraded POWs in their care.
- If it turns out that the true ?atrocities? were committed by Iraqis under our guidance, we still bear the blame. We, the United States military and we, the citizenry of the United States.
- If you think ?they had it coming? or ?well, they started it? then you are saying that we are no better than they are. This is a war for the very survival of our way of life, but if we adopt their tactics and mind-set then we will have won a hollow victory. Try to stay clear on this: They are murderous scum with no value for human life. We are NOT.
- In a war where we are trying to win the hearts and minds of a different culture, those photos are damaging beyond belief. The average Arab male would rather die than be humiliated naked in front of a woman - get that? THEY WOULD RATHER DIE. We now are facing an enemy that will fight to the death rather than surrender - how many of our troops are going to die because of this? How many body bags will be attributed to the ?playful hijinx? and ?funny photo? shenannigans of those wonderful soldiers?
- I don?t give a flying f**k whether or not poor little Rebecca of Sunnybrook Trailer Park received the proper training to be an MP. If she grew up in our society, then she is well aware of the fact that degrading and humiliating those who are under your control is WRONG. F**k her, and f**k all the rest who want to hide behind the ?but we weren?t traaaained? excuse. I wasn?t trained as an MP either, but I know that you don?t strip prisoners naked and make them masturbate. And I?m not so God-awful stupid as to record the memory on film.
- I don?t give a good Goddamn about the conditions they were under or the orders they received - the guards at Treblinka and Auschwitz tried the same excuse at Nuremburg. It didn?t work then and it shouldn?t work now. If any Intel types can be proven to have ordered these stunts, then they too should be prosecuted.
- The f**k-sticks who did this should be tried under the UCMJ and, if found guilty, punished to the full extent of the law. The commanders in charge, if it?s proven that they knew (or had suspicions) and did nothing, should be stripped of their rank, cashiered out of the military, and banned from ever serving in a position of public trust again.
HOWEVER COMMA:
- This does not invalidate our reasons for being there. To claim that we should pull out of Iraq because of a few sadistic morons in uniform is not only short-sighted, it ignores all of the good done by the 99% of our troops over there.
- Politicians of whatever stripe, who want to use this scandal in order to further their political agenda, are the worst sort of hypocritical scum. If Kennedy, Kerry or any other idiot can show where they protested UN atrocities in Kosovo, atrocities in the Sudan, Rwanda, or China, then MAYBE I will give them the time of day. Until then, they should pull their heads out of their collective asses and STFU.
- Any of the rest of you who wish to use this to tar the Bush Administration betray your singular lack of perception and your narrow bias. And the old ?well, they were ultimately responsible? tactic doesn?t work unless you can prove that they knew about it and condoned it. The evidence thus far shows that immediate action was taken when Rumsfeld found out about it, and a full military investigation was ordered back in January.
- There were more than 25,000 Courts Martial conducted during the 8 years that Clinton was President. To expect him to resign because of them, or to expect his SofD to resign, would have been ridiculous. I don?t think Rumsfeld should be fired, but I am coming to believe more and more that he will resign voluntarily. I don?t personally like the man, nor do I agree with the direction he is taking the military, but I do credit him with a strong sense of responsibility and honor.
- And finally, to those of you who want to use this as an indictment of America, just remember that our country is PISSED about this. We aren't dancing in the streets or praising those turds as heroes. We are prosecuting them, and we are demanding an accounting.
There - I said what I had to say. I know this is going to piss some people off, and I will respectfully debate anyone who takes issue. But I am getting sick and tired of both a) people who treat this like some sort of college prank, and b) people who see this as an excuse to advance the Democrat world-view. Get realistic, people - the a$$holes who perpetrated these crimes hurt us all, not just the Republicans or the Defense Department. They shamed us all.
Public opinion be damned. I have, as you know stated that you cannot blame the many for the actions of the few, but today, after seeing what they did to that poor fellow, and seeing his dad in a heap on his front yard... collateral damaage be damned. There is a reason there is a term for it...
Speechless here, as well. No use in reiterating what others have said.
Horrible
Disgusting
Hard to express feelings about this without getting angry.
Unfortuntely we pretty much all had to know that there would be reprocussions from the videos of the Iraqui prisoners, but this is just disgusting.
